Certificates & Professional Development Points (PDPs)
The PD Collab is committed to providing high-quality professional learning that supports Massachusetts educators in meeting licensure renewal requirements. Below is an overview of the certificates we issue and how they align with Massachusetts DESE Professional Development Point (PDP) guidelines.
The PD Collab is an approved professional development provider through its affiliation with SEEM Collaborative, a Massachusetts educational collaborative.
15-Hour Workshops — PDP Certificates
For workshops totaling 15 hours, participants who successfully complete all required components receive a DESE-approved PDP Certificate.
These workshops:
Meet DESE requirements for awarding PDPs
Include a culminating project or demonstration of learning
Require active participation and completion of all assignments
Often fulfill PDP requirements in high-demand areas such as:
Sheltered English Immersion (SEI/ESL)
Strategies for effective schooling for students with disabilities
Content or pedagogy
PDP certificates are issued automatically once attendance and required feedback surveys are completed.
2- and 5-Hour Workshops — Certificates of Completion
For workshops totaling 2 or 5 hours, participants receive a Certificate of Completion indicating the number of contact hours attended.
While these certificates do not automatically award PDPs, DESE allows educators to:
Bundle shorter workshops on the same or related topic (minimum of 10 hours), and
Pair them with a product or demonstration of learning (e.g., lesson plan, unit plan, presentation, reflection)
For 2- and 5-hour workshops, The PD Collab provides Certificates of Completion. These certificates may be bundled toward PDPs with approval from your district’s Professional Development Office. At this time, The PD Collab does not bundle hours or submit PDPs for workshops under 10 hours.
Most educators find DESE licensure requirements complex. The following official resources explain PDP rules, bundling, and renewal requirements in detail:
